Tales From the Cask Craft Beer Podcast

This week on Tales From the Cask we have an exclusive interview with Jon Hall!  John has worked as a reporter for the New York Times, the Newark Star-Ledger, and the Indianapolis Star. In 2007 he dedicated his efforts to the full-time pursuit of covering the ever-growing American craft beer scene.  Currently, John is the host of The Beer Briefing on iHeart Radio and the editor of All About Beer Magazine. He is a regular contributor to Beverage World Magazine, Craftbeer.com and TAPS. He is also the author of several books, including The American Craft Beer Cookbook, Massachusetts Breweries, and Indiana Breweries.

John tells us about his how he got into journalism and writing specifically about beer, and he tells us about his new book, The American Craft Beer Cookbook: 155 Recipes From Your Favorite Brewpubs and Breweries.  We also discuss his favorite brews and food pairings.

On tap this week is a great selection of wheat beers!  We sample the Weinstephaner Hefe Weiss, Weinstephaner Hefe Weiss Dark, Sierra Nevada Kellerweiss, and the Flying Dog In Heat Wheat Hefeweizen.

In our news segment we share a story from Oak Park MI about new beer and wine laws, an LA Time article about light beers, a consumer reports study on the best craft beers, and an interesting study about how drinking beer might attract more mosquitoes.

In our feedback segment we talk about Sam Adams' $1million can design, where breweries get their water, brewers' specialty glasses, which beers have the highest alcohol content, the best beer for making onion rings, the myth of ice cold beer, and the best beer for a newbie.

We'd love to hear your feedback and brew suggestions!  Call in your feedback by calling 919-502-0280 or email us at talesfromthecask@gmail.com.
