Tales From the Cask Craft Beer Podcast (tales from the cask)

It’s the three of us this week, sharing stories and drinking great North Carolina brews! In honor of this week’s NC State Fair, we keep it hyper-local and try NC beers made with as many local ingredients as possible. Up this week we have Durham’s Full Steam Brewery and their St. Summer Basil Saison, Asheville’s Wicked Weed and their Briars and Brett Gin Barrell Aged Ale, and Haw River Farmhouse’sSt. Benedict's Breakfast Dubbel.

There's Star Wars and health in the news this week. Wha? Listen to stories from WKYT Lexington KY and the news that Anheuser-Busch is suing Kentucky to buy a beer distributor, Syracuse.com on Lucasfilm battling the Empire Brewpub over a brew called 'Strikes Bock', and The New York Times down in hard-drinking Sydney Australia. We also have The USA Today celebrating 3 young pro golfers crafting a new beer product line, KOMO Seattle on a couple of NC guys who are buying every kind of beer in U.S. for new app, and NPR with a scarystory asking is that a spoonful of spooky cereal in your beer? Finally the health news is good via The New York Post who reveal that a pint of beer per day can double men’s fertility and io9 helping to save you from radiation poisoning by drinking a beer!

With the World Series hanging in the balance, what better time to answer last week’s #caskquiz “what beer will you be drinking during the baseball playoffs?” while this week we want to know “what is your fave fall beer that is NOT a pumpkin beer?”

We are back in our bar this week listening to the rain when in walks Leif Larson from Olde Hickory Brewery! The focus then turns to three stories about beer and food, just not in the pairing sense - The USA Today with fast food chain Popeyes “beer can chicken”, The Washington Post on Starbucks testing a beer-flavored latte, and The Consumerist’s opinion that someone has made a craft beer jelly because that is clearly what peanut butter has been missing!
